How We Eat:

In short I try to eat the foods I feel will fuel my body.

1 Corinthians 3:16 states:

16 Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?

I am inspired by philosophies like Mediterranean, Whole 30 and Eat Clean, I do not follow any of them exclusively.  I enjoy their focus on nutrient dense, whole foods.  My focus is to eat more foods that are the ingredient rather that foods with a list of ingredients.  With that said I do not have an off-limits list of foods.  I enjoy foods that nurture my body and fuel me to accomplish the plans God has for me.  I gave up calorie counting and focus on mindful eating.  We try to avoid processed foods and stick to creating fun foods at home.  We are always creating something new.

  • Try to avoid:
    •  Store-bought sweet treats.  I had a horrible sweet tooth when I was younger.  Over time, I have weaned myself from the tons of sugary treats I indulged in.  Now if I want something sweet, I just make it myself. Believe me when I say the food we make at home always tastes better than what can be bought at the store.  Cinnamon rolls in the oven on Christmas morning comes to mind.  Oh, the smell, but then ahh the taste.  Do we eat clean all the time?  I am a recovering sugar addict, mom of seven and above all human. There may be times that you come across a recipe that you feel is not the healthiest. I am not teaching, encouraging or living perfection. I am encouraging balanced eating, enjoying a diet primarily of whole foods and choosing to live life intentionally and wisely. I am on this journey of whole living right along with you and sometimes that may look like a nice glass of wine with  cheese enchiladas from our favorite Mexican restaurant, or a huge plate of cucumbers, bell peppers, and guacamole.  I just take it one day at a time.  I hope you come along with me and we enjoy it together.
