There have been numerous research studies that show the importance of getting a good night’s rest. Most recently there is a correlation between using smartphones and tablets to restless and poor . Here are three ways to help you achieve a better night’s rest.

  1. Aromatherapy – Smelling lavender enhances the waves in your brain that encourage relaxation. I like to put a drop on my pillow before bed or use my essential oil diffuser.
  2. Sleep Mask- For those that are sensitive to lingering light while sleeping a contoured sleep mask can make drifting off to sleep more comfortable and easy.
  3. White Noise-There are many white noise apps available on smartphones today.  They were lifesavers while the triplets were babies, I used Relax Melodies while they were infants.  It is free and has a variety of sounds.

Best thing for a good night’s rest is to turn off electronics 2 hours before going to bed. This allows your body to acknowledge it is time for sleep.

  1. Sleep is definitely important, I value it too and I make sure my kids sleep well at night. I recently had an issue with sleep, I had a hard time sleeping at night so I would often drink tea.

    • Elizabeth, I have a tension tamer tea that has Valerian root in it that is bomb. It is a herb that is available as a capsule or tea. I love it. What tea do you drink?

    • I’m not a doctor and have never dealt with insomnia. My husband at times has trouble staying asleep. I usually have him take melatonin. It is a natural hormone that your body produces to manage your sleep cycles. I will have him take a tablet that dissolves in the mouth about 20 minutes before bed.     • Love the ear plugs. That is funny. Just to let you know how hard I sleep, we just had an earthquake and I slept right through it. Not sure if that is a good or a bad thing. 🙂
