Vinegar is an excellent all-purpose natural cleaner. I use this for everything from mopping my floors to cleaning produce.

I get the big container of from Costco. I typically start out with a bottle 3/4 full. I also get my from Costco. I drink a warm mug of lemon water every morning. Instead of tossing the rind into the trash I cut off the skin and plop it into my vinegar bottle.
The lemon marinating in the vinegar gives the vinegar a more refreshing scent. I even use this when my kids have been out playing in the grass and are super itchy. I pour 1-2 cups of the lemon vinegar into their bath water, and it works wonders.

Items Needed:

Container to hold vinegar and lemons

2:1 ratio of vinegar and lemons.

For every 2 cups of vinegar use the rind of 1 lemon.

Let mixture sit for 2-3 days and then use a filter to separate the vinegar and lemons.  Store vinegar in an airtight container.  Lemons can be reused 2-3 times.

A few ways I use the lemony vinegar around the house.

Fabric softener for towels

  • Add 1/2 cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle.

Regular fabric softener can make towels less absorbent,  vinegar deodorizes and softens them.

Toilet Bowl Cleaner

  • Measure 2 cups of vinegar into the bowl at night (It is so frustrating to put it in during the day, and one of the kids immediately needs to go potty); in the morning use a toilet scrubber to scrub away the yuck.

Windows, Mirrors, and Glass

I use a 1:1 ratio of water and vinegar for an inexpensive yet powerful glass cleaner.

Laundry Bleach

I use 1 cup of white vinegar in my dark clothes to keep them from losing their color.
